If you follow me on Snapchat then you must have noticed the exciting party Urban Decay threw to celebrate its brand new lipstick collection "Vice" containing 100 lipsticks in many shades going from wearable to edgy. I was over the moon to attend the party and discover the lippies, because -as you may know- Urban Decay is one of my favorite makeup brands! And so, today, I am happily sharing three Vice lipsticks with you!
Most of the products that I own by Urban Decay are focussed on the eyes. I only had one lip product (a Naked lipgloss I still need to share with you), because I found their lipsticks to not be diverse enough. I mean, they mostly offered shades I already owned by different brands, so I was not too enthusiastic to try them out. This was until the Vice lipstick collection! Now there are too many lipsticks that I want to try out, ha! Talk about a first-world problem.
The Vice collection contains 100 lipstick with 6 different finishes: Comfort Matte, Mega Matte, Cream, Metallized, Sheer, and Sheer Shimmer. The Comfort Matte is more creamy than the very intense Mega Matte. The Metallized finish is also creamy, but contains loads of pearls giving it that frosty metallic finish. Cream is creamy. That was not hard to guess. The Sheer and Sheer Shimmer finish are for when you are looking for a more subtle look with less pigment. The lipsticks come in gorgeous bullets that are so attractive you kinda-sorta-totally want to get them. At least, that is how it works for me, haha. Like with the Chanel Rouge Allure collection. The lipsticks all have the UD logo pressed on them, which is an added touch. I love it. I got three lipsticks to try out "Disturbed" (Comfort Matte), "Rock Steady" (Cream) and "Backtalk" (Comfort Matte). The swatches above show that with one layer you get a shitload of pigment. It is something that I have come to expect from Urban Decay, so I would have been very disappointed if this had not been the case. The least opaque layer is "Disturbed" and from the looks of the second swatch (with two layers) it is also the one who applies the least evenly. "Backtalk" also caught my attention, because it is such a special shade of pink. I don't really know how to classify it, but it seems like an old/romantic shade of pink. Does that make sense? The opaqueness is great! And "Rock Steady" also looks like the kind of red I will love! It is slightly darker than a true red.
I am starting out with the lightest color of the three: "Backtalk". Let me first point out that I love the name and I love even more how the pink looks on me. It is lighter than on the arm swatch, but it still really stands out, because it looks borderline strange on me (probably because I am not used to it), without being Nicki Minaj/Barbie/Porno pink, but remains wearable. The lipstick applies very evenly and easily enough. The Comfort Matte finish is both comfortable and matte, so they got that right. This lipstick never dried my lips, because it was quite creamy, and it lasted well throughout the day with just small bites and something to drink. A full meal it will not survive, but that is why we can always touch up.
I absolutely adore red lipsticks. There just is something classy and sexy about them. The same can be said about "Rock Steady"! It is not a true red, but a bit darker than that with warm undertones. It has a creamy finish, but it looks very shiny on my lips. It is slightly less opaque than "Backtalk", but more pigmented. It is even easier to apply and does so smoothly. This gorgeous red lipstick also lasted for many hours in which I was not eating, but it will really need a touch up if you are eating. Just on the inside of the lips. I was still amazed with the lasting power, and now I will be having a harder time choosing between my favorite red lipsticks. It did not dehydrate my lips, but made my lips feel more hydrated.
The darkest shade of the three is "Disturbed", which could be described as a brownish dark red. I am great at describing colors, haha. Out of the three lipsticks it is the one that applies the least evenly and is the least opaque. With that said, it does apply easily and it still is very pigmented and you can get a gorgeous and even look on your lips, nonetheless. Like with the other two shades, "Disturbed" will also last through the day (or night, but not both, because food) with drinks included and it will not dehydrate your lips. I actually also worn this lipstick when I went out and it stayed almost perfectly in place from 11pm until 7am when I got home. Yup, you got that right. I party hard... once a year.
The launch of the Vice collection has made me extremely excited about the Urban Decay lipsticks. It is hard not to be excited by the gorgeous new bullet design and the huge variety of mostly wearable (but slightly more unique) shades. The lasting power and easy application is another positive for all three shades. Out of all three "Disturbed" should be the least desirable one, because of its negatives, but I can honestly not pick a most/least favorite. The fact that "Disturbed" is such a gorgeous color is enough for me to overlook the fact that it does not apply as evenly everywhere. It is something that is fixable. It is the shade that I have worn the most out of these three so far! Then there's "Backtalk", which is such a unique pink shade. I mean, I own many, many, many pink shades... and I did not have anything like "Backtalk" yet! I did have shades that were similar to "Rock Steady", but its gorgeous shine and long-lasting prowess without dehydrating my lips also swayed my vote. I can't choose. I love them all. Yup. There you have it. The Vice lipsticks cost €19,50 per lipstick, which is not cheap but you get a long-lasting lipstick of great quality and pigment in return. I have also found a new shade from the Vice collection that I want to buy: Big Bang! And then there are so many other shades that I have to discover! Oh, if you don't know how the lipsticks will look on you... with the Vice Lipstick app you can easily find out! What do you think? Are you just as excited about the Vice lipsticks as I am?! And what do you think of these three shades?
