It has been a while since beautiful Melissa, from KissandMakeupsBeautyBlog, and I did our last makeup-related challenge: Two Dashes of Glam. The last challenge was all about our favorite animals, and so we decided to make a comeback by focusing on the wonderful girl power from the 90s! This time it is all about the Spice Girls!
My favorite Spice Girl growing up as a kid always was Geri Halliwell. There was something about her fiery red hair and lively personality. Naturally, when discussing this theme with Melissa my mind immediately went to Geri, to my old platform shoes, and that choker I wore everyday as a kid. I kinda wanted to buy the choker again for this challenge, but then I forgot to wear it when I was taking the pictures. This is so typically me. Doh. Anywho, instead of going for Geri.... I ended up going for Victoria Beckham aka Posh Spice.
I ended up picking Victoria, because her makeup looks appeal to me more now that I am older. Despite the heavy contoured cheeks and several-shades-too-light concealer, I thought her beauty looks came close to something I would wear myself. Considering I had to be out and about the day I wore this look, I did not want to do anything too crazy either. And so I didn't do the contouring or very light concealer, but I did create a soft smokey eye with my highlighter from a Wet 'n Wild palette and a shimmery soft black eyeshadow from MAC. I did not find any looks with her wearing eyeliner, so I chose not to wear it either. It always feel kind of strange to me when I am not wearing eyeliner! Victoria often wore brownish/pinkish lipsticks with a darker lipliner. I decided to give the illusion of wearing lipliner with my new Urban Decay Vice lipstick in "Conspiracy". I did my lashes with my current go-to mascara "Lash Princess" by Essence. The makeup look feels very 90s to me, but kind of modernized. If only I did not forget to wear my choker! Darn it.
Unlike me, Melissa didn't have a specific favorite Spice Girl, but she did love all the red that Geri Halliwell wore in her clothing and makeup. I can't blame her! I'm very curious to find out how she implemented all that red in her beauty look! It can be a tricky color when using it on the eyes. Are you curious too?
