As you may know -or not know- I am going to New York City this summer! My kind and gorgeous cousin, who gave me this amazing beauty box, is getting married and I was invited. It was the perfect excuse (not that I actually need one) to spend loads of time in one of my favorite cities. Knowing that I would be spending so much time there, I had to start thinking about my outfits.
This casual but summer-proof outfit is one of the looks I came up with! The thing about NYC in the summer is.... is that it will be scorching hot, ha. Something to look forward to. You can imagine I will be wearing a lot of short shorts, skirts and dresses. It is the perfect occasion to get out of my comfort zone a bit and try new things! I will be walking around most of the time, so staying in my comfort zone when it comes to shoes was also very important. And with comfort zone.. I literally mean comfort zone, ha. I need shoes that are easy to walk in and that do not hurt my feet. Luckily, FitFlop sent me their F-Pop Canvas Ballerinas in Blue Weave so I could try out all those things!

FitFlop's motto is that life's too short to have painful feet, and that is something that I have definitely come to agree with over the years. Though I used to be a high-heels-all-day-every-day-kinda girl back in my teens, now that I am in my twenties I am all about comfort. Especially when one lives in Belgium. FitFlop started out with just creating sandals, but the ones I have seen are not for me, and so I thought FitFlop was not for me. However, they started branching out to different models, such as Oxfords, loafers, or ballerinas, and those are right up my alley. The new models give you the comfort that FitFlop is well-known for with more trendy and pretty shoes that can be worn with more dressy (or casual) outfits. The F-Pop ballerinas are built with an ergonomic SupercomFF™ technology that is supposed to give the wearer unparalleled all-day comfort, and so it does. I get the comfort that I was looking for, and so I am sure I can discover NYC all over again without painful feet! I can't wait.
I also got my first body. I was sort of uninterested in bodies, because they look silly, but then I read an article on Cosmopolitan via my Snapchat app and that sort of convinced me to try one out. In the article it basically came down to the fact that bodies are good to wear, because there is no way your shirt will rise up your back when bending down and all kinds of other things. I thought, hmmm... yeah, ok. I will give it a go. Maybe I am just easily convinced! Anywho, I came across this one when I was walking around the New Look looking for dresses. I do feel like I should wear a different bra under this body. And so my quest for a bra with more lift has begun. I will definitely not find it at Hunkermoller, but I will spare you my complaint about that one trip to Hunkermoller in which the sales lady was extremely rude.
Another lovely thing about summertime -besides wearing short things and stepping outside of one's comfort zone- is that I can wear and show off my ankle bracelets. I really love very subtle and simple ankle bracelets that only barely catch one's attention. Less is more in this case. I also really love how pretty and wearable these FitFlops look! I love that it is in blue and that they look so feminine. When I first tried them on I realized they are slightly wide for my feet, but that is something that can be fixed easily with some added soles. You can get the F-Pop Canvas Ballerinas for €105. Preppy but casual look? Check! All in all, I am pretty satisfied with this New York City/Summer proof outfit! What do you think? Are you a fan of bodies? And have you ever worn shoes by FitFlop?
