Born Pretty Store | Purple Liquid Eyeliner

After having tested two lipsticks and temporary tattoos from Born Pretty Store, I wanted to test something completely different: eyeliner. I chose a color I would not normally go for (basically no black), so I opted for purple because it is still reasonably close to black.. unless it is as purple as the purple on the bottle. Then whoops.

The liquid eyeliner is branded "Music Flower" and comes in five other colors next to purple: black, green, red (sold out at the moment - what the heck?), brown and green. It comes in a small rectangular bottle that displays the color of the eyeliner and a black applicator. Written on the front is the claim that this is a waterproof and long-lasting liquid eyeliner. Time to test that.

The felt applicator is to my liking, because it allows for easy and precise lines - something that might not always be the case with the tiny brushes. On the website of Born Pretty Store the eyeliner is described as having a gel formula, but it is more liquid-y than jellylike. After applying the eyeliner it only needs a short while before it is dry. This is something I like a lot.

However, what I don't like is that the eyeliner isn't very buildable. I mean, yes you can layer with it, but as you can see above on the swatch and in the closeup of my eye - it leaves these traces where the eyeliner is darker and there where it is not. If you try to fix that the darker bits become darker and the lighter bits become slightly darker too but not evened out. So this is something that can -should- be improved upon.

Creating fine lines with this eyeliner is a big bonus in my book. Every now and then (or very often) I muck up with my application and I have to keep making the line thicker and thicker and thicker and thicker until I look like a raccoon. This is not the case with this eyeliner. I can easily and precisely create a fine line, so yay that. The shade is a deep and dark purple that gives off plenty of pigment, but when zoomed out it does not become too dominant. I like that I can make a somewhat natural and simple look with this purple liquid eyeliner! So is it waterproof? Nope! Not at all. You can rub it off with water. Is it long-lasting eyeliner? Yep! It stayed on my eyes the whole day! Yay. The liquid eyeliner normally costs $3.73 but is currently for sale for $1.87! So if you are looking for a very cheap liquid eyeliner that stays on all day, and allows easy and precise application, then this might be something to look at. Do keep in mind that there are some grievances with how the product actually builds. It might a fun tool to play around with if you are brand new to eyeliners and want to figure out what kind of applicator/brush works best for you. For me this purple liquid eyeliner was an interesting product to try, but I would prefer to spend more money on an eyeliner that layers better. What matters to you more: easy application or the product being buildable? 1. I want my eyeliner to be opaque, this is my main concern, so I guess it wouldn't be for me.
Maybe red was sold out because of Halloween approaching?

    1. Yup! Couldn't agree more. I'm glad it's not a bright purple, but deep and dark enough like a black eyeliner.

  3. Mooie kleur! Ik vind het alleen jammer dat hij niet zo goed is op te bouwen; ik vind makkelijke applicatie belangrijk, maar als het niet resultaat niet egaal wordt, erger ik mij daar de hele dag aan :P

  5. Despite not being perfectly even, this liner looks great on you!
I have a purple liquid liner from KIKO and it's definitely not opaque in one swipe, but at least it is buildable.

    1. Thank you, Carol! Ah, see that makes quite a difference. I prefer it to be opaque in one swipe, but if not that.. then at least buildable!

  11. It's too bad it's not buildable. It really is a pretty purple. A shade I'd actually consider and I'm a strictly black liner kinda gal.
