I like browsing on Ebay.. especially inexpensive asian shops that offer cute things that I will not find anywhere near me. For example, pretty little necklaces or rings! I have been reading a lot about Born Pretty Store on other blogs and it is a store that really reminded me of those asian shops on Ebay, so I was quite curious about what they had to offer.
When I was approached to try some products I took a closer and more serious look. Born Pretty Store offers a wide variety of different products from makeup and beauty to even home and garden products. There is a lot to find on there! I tend to browse makeup, nail accessories and cute little jewelry items. Whilst browsing I came across the Baby Gaga Lipsticks and they immediately caught my eye! Born Pretty Store might offer inexpensive beauty products, but these lipsticks surely did not look cheap, so that made me curious about them. I chose a pink (#2) and red-orange (#6) lipstick, because they seemed nice enough for the summer!
The lipsticks come in pretty (rose) gold metallic-like packaging with Baby Gaga written on it. It looks exciting enough to want to open! When you take out the lipsticks you will notice that the rose golden theme is also used in the tube and the writing. On the bottom of the lipsticks it says lasting 24 hours a day ColorStay lipstick. Well, 24 hours? Really? For such inexpensive lipsticks? I was a bit hesitant about that, because lipsticks rarely last 24 hours... but hopefully this one lasts long enough!
The Baby Gaga (completely not related to Lady Gaga) lipsticks look really classy in their black top and the tube is beautiful too. I really love how it looks! You would not think that these were so cheap (only $4), so I am really pleased with the packaging and appearance of the lipsticks. They look better than I had imagined!
The lipsticks still looked promising when looking at the actual product. The pink lipstick is quite a bright hot pink shade and the orange one looked more red than orange... like blood orange. Is that even a thing, or am I making up stuff here? The top does not come off quite easily, though. That is something that could be improved! Anywho, both #2 and #6 (yes, they are nameless) look good to me. Time to swatch!
The pink shade is less of a hot pink and a more purple pink shade on my arm. The blood orange lipstick looks more orange than red on my arm. I have plenty of hot pink lipsticks and I specifically chose #6 because it was orangey, so I like that these lipsticks take on this shade on my skin. Both shades are very pigmented! My swatch above is just one layer, so I am happy with both shades! The lipsticks feel quite creamy and leave behind a bit of shine as you can see on the swatch.
The fact that they are so creamy makes application a bit messier, but they do apply easily enough. The creaminess gives off a shine once the lipsticks are set on the lips. I guessed that they would only last for two hours tops, but I was wrong. They survived my breakfast, which I ate carefully and by the time lunch came around the creaminess had worn off and a stain had set in on my lips. So there was no more shine and the lipsticks felt a bit drying... however, the color was still there! After lunch it had worn off, so you will get some surprisingly good hours with the Baby Gaga lipsticks (if you eat and drink carefully) before you have to reapply! The lipsticks are both really bright, though. They were brighter than I had expected and that worried me a bit. I did not want to have a Barbie/Porno Pink fiasco again. So when I first randomly tried them on my lips without any makeup on.. it made me worry even more. It came so close to being that kind of bright... but when worn with a simple eyeliner and some mascara.. it actually started looking better and better. Now I am really loving both shades, but #6 (the orange one) really wins for me! What about you? Which shade do you like best?
