Remember when I told you I finally got to meet Florence? The lovely creator behind the urban lipstick brand MDMflow?! Well, I went to the shop to buy Von Dutch for my sister who is a big fan of it as well... but then Florence told me about Milkshake.. and I went home with two lippies, instead of one!
I knew about Milkshake before Florence told me about it, but I never found it that appealing, because it was a very very very very pale purple and I thought that would look awful on me... but, boy, was I wrong! Apparently, Florence used that scientific brain of hers and created a special kind of lipstick! Milkshake contains encapsulated pigments that cause the colour to get brighter and brighter every time you rub your lips together and when she actually showed me... I was really impressed and bought one without even trying it out on my lips! But before we get to the magic (or scientific, hm) part.. let us take a look at the lippie:
As always, the lipstick comes in a golden encased bullet that looks both classy and unique to me. This specific holder is a bit harder to close, but I do not have this with my other two MDMflow lipsticks. As you can see, Milkshake really is a pale purple and it has specs of blue in it... or so it seems to me, anyways! The name of the brand is carved in the lipstick itself, which is one of the many things that I love!
Now, this is where the magic happens. I do not know the exact science behind it, but the lipstick seems to contain blue or purple looking grains and when you swatch it, the color changes from a pale purple to a deep purple/hot pink shade. It is somewhere in between there. My mom used to buy these green lipsticks that does not give off green pigment, but turns pink on your lips... so I was somewhat familiar with the concept of color changing lipstick, but I still think this is so cool! I think that it is such a fun and unexpected surprise, so it would be a great gift to give to people as well. You hand them a really pale purple that people aren't used to wearing.. and BAM.. it becomes this gorgeous hot pink/deep purple shade. They get two kinds of surprises ;-) Anywho, for now.. it is a present for myself!
Another playful aspect to Milkshake is that the more you rub it, the deeper and intenser the shade becomes. So you can really decide for yourself how you would like to wear Milkshake! You want to go for a sheer shade? You just apply on layer and do not rub your lips. You want it to become darker? Well, keep rubbing them lips, apply more layers or do both! Above you will find a swatch with three different layers. I have not rubbed them, so this is just the adding of layers.
This is what it actually looks like on my lips. I did not rub my lips on the first or second photo, but I could not contain myself with the third layer... so I did some rubbing and applying it more properly than in the previous two. The shade goes from being really soft to being extremely bright! What a multifunctional and playful lipstick, huh?!

The texture of the lipstick is soft and smooth, and you get a silky and shiny finish. The lipstick does not last throughout the day, but will survive a drink or two. I really do not mind, though.. because I can pull out this baby and tell people about the magic behind it.. You know, for those who are interested! It truly is a one of a kind lipstick and I am glad that Florence showed me what the lipstick can do.. and that I can share them with you now. I am loving every MDMflow lipstick I have so far. Would I dare venture to a more edgy and less wearable lipstick? What do you think of black or blue? That would be interesting too (why do I keep rhyming?)! You can buy Milkshake for £18 or €20 worldwide online or at The Public Image in Belgium. What do you think of Milkshake? Do you love the playfulness of this lipstick as much as I do?
