With spring being in full bloom (pun intended) and the Black & Gold theme being way behind us, the lovely Melissa and I decided on flower inspirations for a beauty makeup look! We kept it as vague as possible, so we could do whatever. I actually came up with the idea to draw tiny flowers on my face...
So when I started looking for my special teensy tiny brushes that are perfect for drawing I realized I had lent them to my boyfriend (no, he does not use them for makeup)... and turns out... he misplaced them and still has not found them. Tun dun dun. Time for someone to buy me new brushes *cough*. Anywho, I had to think of something else.. so I let myself be inspired by a flower my mommy gave me. I loved its vibrant colors and that was enough to persuade me.
The flowers are a bright yellow and a red-pink-brownish red with a light green right in the middle (can you see it?). I liked that the redness was sheer in some places so I thought it would be nice to combine the yellow and red in my crease. The biggest challenge was finding the right shade of red. Despite having loads of eyeshadows, I do not have many red ones. I tend to stay away from red or too pink, so there was not much to choose from. The red I used came from some mini eyeshadow palette bought at a Chinese store in Madrid, Spain. Talk about random. The yellow and green shade I got from my ELF 100 piece marble eyeshadow palette (#41 & #52). The green was just supposed to add a nice green touch on the bottom and I think it does just that.
Not wearing eyeliner or eye pencil often feels strange with beauty looks and I felt like this one needed a messy line so that is what I went for. I added a soft black line with my Smashbox eye pencil towards the outside and middle of my eye lid. I kept the rest of my face soft and downplayed by not wearing any blush. On my lips I wore Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer in "Light Year": a brownish shade but with some obvious pink in there.. as you can see on my lips. Well, do my eyes resemble to flowers in any way? Heck no! Was I inspired by flowers, though? Yeah, I would have not worn this combination on any regular day.. so this was something new for me! Do you like it? While you are thinking about that, take a look at Melissa's flower inspired beauty look on KissandMakeup! She got inspired by peonies and is wearing pink on her cheeks and lips, and green on her eyes! We have the color green in common, but that is it! What do you think of our looks? What kind of flower would inspire you?
