Though February is such a short month, it feels like such a long time ago when Melissa, from KissandMakeUp, and I created our challenge for Valentine's Day for the Two Dashes of Glam series. Now that we are well into March, let's take a look at our fourth creation in Black & Gold.
I would normally go up golden and black smokey eyes with black eyeliner and heavy mascara, but I thought about switching it up a bit. I wanted to wear something completely different and go for something bold. I though instead of black eyeliner... let me try golden eyeliner. Reverse the whole idea of Black & Gold! I mean, I knew it would turn into a bolder look but I had not imagined it would end up looking like this...
The shade "Noir" from my Sleek MakeUp Bad Girl palette was applied all over my lid, then I applied "Blackheart" from my Naked 3 palette in my crease and my outer-V to create a soft shadowy effect and add some subtle sparkles. On my lower lash line I also applied "Noir" and on my waterline I applied "Perversion" by Urban Decay. Then I found my old golden eyeliner and tried to apply this as neatly over my eye lid. It was quite a challenge. I used the Scandal Eyes Retro Glam mascara on my eyes, but all the black eyeshadow on my eyes made the mascara seem less dramatic. Darn. Considering my eyes were so heavy, I knew I had to go with soft and subtle lips so I wore "Streak" a Naked lip gloss by Urban Decay (review coming soon).

The whole beauty look seems strangely interesting to me. I could not stop looking at my eyes (ok, I understand that is a bit of a weird thing to say.. but the golden eyeliner against the smokey blackness and brown eyes... just made it a bit mesmerizing). My boyfriend really did not know what to say when I gleefully walked towards him asking what he thought, so he remained silent until I became impatient and then he said.... "naaaaaah, it's too much". Well, definitely not the type of feedback I was looking for ha! I guess my boyfriend is not much of a fan and I can not blame him. I mean, I would not wear this outside for a night out on town, but it might be a fun look to pull off for a special theme party - because, why not?!
Melissa went for a more wearable look, but she also chose to wear black and gold on the eyes. So, all the attention will go to her eyes too and she'll add a subtle nude lip to it. I can not wait to find out what she did. Check it out here! What do you think of our Black & Gold beauty looks? And how do you think your significant other would respond?
