Spring MakeUp | Lips, Eyes, Cheeks & Nails

Cherry Blossoms by Jeff Kubina /CC by 2.0
Now that March has started and all the spring collections of beauty brands are showing up.. I think it is time to look at what changes we can make to our beauty regimen. I have previously discussed the transition from winter to spring time, so for face care products be sure to click here. For now, I just want to focus on changes in colors.

With the arrival of warmer and sunnier weather, we do not just make changes to our wardrobe (imagine wearing a woolen turtle neck, thick winter jacket and snow boots with 20 degrees. yeesh), but we can also make changes to our cosmetic products. It keeps things fresh and you get to try other  or new products.. perhaps you will feel a bit more carefree and venture out to those bolder or brighter colors. That is the fun that comes with changing weather and seasons. This time I wanted to create an overview with products I actually own and plan to use now that spring is slowly getting nearer. I never really consciously follow trends, but just go with my own associations (which certainly can be influenced by fashion or beauty magazines, models, celebrities, whatnots). Here are some changes that I will be making.. or colors that I will be wearing more often:

Soft radiant lips

Ok, this is a bit of a juxtaposition but for spring I love the idea of soft and sheer lips that still give off plenty of warm and radiant shades, such as orange, coral and soft pink. These lippies are not as hard as stronger pigmented lipsticks, but still have a softness to them. I will definitely be wearing these shades more often (a special mention to Fire Red):
Spring Makeup: Lip Glosses in orange, coral and pink
Tarte Lip Glosses: Spence, Viv, Lizzy, Kam. Urban Decay Naked Lipgloss in Streak. MAC Cremesheen Glass in Dynasty at Dusk.
Spring Makeup: Lipstick in orange, coral and pink
Raspberry Pie, Shine #22, Lollipop, Nude-ist, Shine #27, Tangerine, Shine #20, Clear Coral

pastel colored eyes

It is not summer time yet, so I will be sticking to softer shades for my eyes and pastel colors will work perfectly for that. Think about a hint of pastel blue, purple or pink on the eyes just to give it a soft and romantic touch. Admittedly, I do not own loads of pastel shades but the ones I do have I will be wearing more often. I especially love pink-brown eyeshadows that come with lots of shimmers, such as Wonderland, Snatch and Bordello. The shades do not show properly on paper, so here are some snapshots of the eyeshadows ... shimmer and sparkles getting everywhere!

Blushing cheeks

I usually pick a blush based on what I am wearing on my lips or eyes (if my lips are kept soft), but softer shades will work better than deep ones. So think of a romantic rosy color or a fresh coral shade. These colors will be great during the day, but one can add more intensity during the night! Nothing wrong with a bit of golden or silver shimmers etiher!

Pretty Nails

Let us not forget about pretty nails. They are often overlooked.. and I really just wear whatever I feel like wearing at the moment of picking a new shade. However, I have selected a couple of my softer pink and green nail polishes (with some exceptions)! All soft and sweet... just perfect for spring!
Spring Makeup: Pastel Nail Polishes
Hema Nail Polishes: #444, #445, #518, #441
Spring Makeup: Pink Nail Polishes
Hema Nail Polish in #16, Wild & More Nail Polish in #22, Fruity Nail Polish in #30
Spring Makeup: Green Nail Polish
Wild & More in #68 & Fruity Nail Polish in #5

Well, those were some of my personal suggestions.. ones that I will definitely be wearing more often on the coming sunnier days. It is time to move on from burgundy to coral lips, from deep-colored eyes to pastel and pink-toned eyes, with matching blushing cheeks and fruity nails. I think eye liner or eye pencil (the latter looks softer on the eyes) can make a world of difference to your eye look, so I would definitely recommend that too! What about you? Are there specific changes you make in your makeup when spring is around the corner?

Ik gebruik niet echt seizoens kleuren wat betreft make-up. Ik vind de lakjes van de Hema wel erg mooi en vrolijk.

  9. Love all the colours you picked Natasja, they made me all fuzzy and excited inside! Spring is here but things can get winter-y at any time in Belgium, you know? So I am hoping for the best and holding onto my coral lippies and bright pastel nail polishes! haha!

  17. Excellent picks, Natasja! In spring I wear more warmer colors and my CORALS unapologetically! Not that I am apologetic about wearing coral in winter, but it feels like the right season to do it now :)

    1. Thanks Sunny! Haha, I admit I wear whatever I feel like wearing :D but because I have so many shades I try to pick fresher shades in spring and darker shades in winter.. but it's all about my mood in the end ^_^

I love love love it but I don't get to wear it too much nowadays (always testing new things hehe). I'll bust it out and wear it tomorrow! :D

  21. Wow, so many pretty products to choose from! I am really looking forward for the spring to start. I don't change a whole lot in my makeup for spring but I definitely reach for peach and coral lip colors and blushes more often! And pastel nail polishes are my favorite for spring! That #441 shade looks so pretty!

  23. WARMER WEATHER = TIME FOR ME TO BUST OUT THOSE CORALS! Not a lipgloss fan, but SERIOUSLY love the shades you chose out! I've got the same Essence blush and even though it's so pretty and all, I don't think I've actually had a chance to wear it yet...SO MUCH STUFF TO USE UP. Personally not a fan of Cha Cha tint because it leaves dots on my face, though I really do need to play around with the application of it more so I can actually use up the stuff.

    1. I'm not a big lip gloss fan either... so... yeah... I still have LOADS of them :P haha. They just always look so pretty so I can't resist them. What a sucker, right :P

I've actually not worn my Essence blush enough either... now I've more reasons to do so :D Ah, a pity about Cha Cha tint but I understand how it can leave marks/dots. It's really fast work, you need to softly apply and quickly spread otherwise you're screwed haha xD
