Two Dashes of Glam | Valentine's Vavavoom

Valentine's Day Beauty MakeUp Look
Happy Valentine's Day by LadyDragonflyCC ->;< /CC by 2.0
For the third edition of Two Dashes of Glam, Melissa, from KissandMakeUp, and I decided to go for a love theme. I know it is a bit obvious (it being February), but we want to be relatable and fun.. so that is how "Valentine's Vavavoom" came into being! We did not set any rules other than that it had to be sexy. Sexy, you say? Yes, sexy. I usually go for "soft" or "romantic" or "bright", but I do not usually aim for a sexy look, so once again the Two Dashes of Glam series challenged me to do something different....

But before I even start thinking about what sexy makeup is.. I had to think about a color palette. Considering it is February, we have a love theme, and it is related to Valentine's Day, it should be wearable enough for during the day... I did not want to go for a classy look with nude eyes and red lips.. but more along the lines of pink, pink and more pink. But nothing too crazy...

Two Dashes of Glam - Valentine's Vavavoom - Close Up

I ended up using my Naked 3 palette by Urban Decay. I just had to. It is like this palette was made for Valentine's Day (or romantic looks.. but we were going for sexy, right?) so it was a no-brainer! I applied "Limit" all over my eyelid, and a bit of "Blackheart" in my crease just to add some depth. In my inner-V I added golden-copper "Trick" combined with a gorgeous loose shimmer eyeshadow in red-golden by Inglot in the number 50. I also pressed the loose eyeshadow on top of my eyelid, towards the crease just to add some shine there, and on my lower lash line. For my eyelashes and eyeliner I used the "Eye Must-Haves" by Smashbox, namely softly applied black eyeliner "Onyx", "Layer Lash Primer" and "Eye Brightening Mascara" in black.

Two Dashes of Glam - Valentine's Vavavoom - Beauty Look

On my cheeks I applied blush tint for cheeks and lips by Essence, which gives a rosy red blush on the cheeks. It is very subtle but gives off enough pigment to create blushing cheeks. On my lips I applied just a bit of "Nude-Ist", part of the Rouge Edition Velvet collection, by Bourjois. I softly smeared it on my lips with my finger tip so the shade would not become too harsh. That was it. Ok. Ok. I know it may not have been what you associated with "sexy", but considering it is for Valentine's Day and it had to be wearable.. I did not want go all out and create something dramatic. Let's call it a sweet kind of sexy?! What do you think? Do you approve it for Valentine's Vavavoom? Would you wear this too for Valentine's Day? Let's not forget about Melissa's look for the challenge... she used green and bronze on her eyes with a subtle eyeliner and nude-taupe lips! That sounds completely different! Click here to check out her look.. and please share your thoughts!

For those who celebrate Valentine's Day.. enjoy your day.
For those who do not celebrate it (like me)... enjoy your day.

p.s. My attempts at trying to look sexy on camera were hilarious. Maybe, someday, I'll be bold enough to share those "bloopers" with you!

  12. I think it is sexy at second glance. Wearable during daytime, but once you close your eyes and show the sparkle... Vavavoom!

    1. Aw, thanks, Natalia! Yeah, I was thinking of doing something dramatic first.. but after consulting with the boyfriend (uhh, about makeup? well, on Valentine's day I should wear what's most appealing to him.. right? haha) this is what I came up with! I'm glad you like it!

  16. First off, the header for your blog is fabulous! Secondly, I love the look that you created. When your eyes are open it looks so naturally polished, but I can only imagine how pretty the flashes of sparkle would be whenever you blinked. It is very interesting without being over the top. Thanks for sharing!

    1. Thanks so much Audrey :) that's basically why I layered and layered with the sparkles, just spreading them all over my crease! I'm loving your Valentine's Day look too!
