After creating a bold and glittery beauty look for Christmas, Melissa from KissandMakeUp and I decided to go for the Snow & Ice theme for one of the (supposedly) coldest months in the year. Well, depending on where you live, of course.. it was supposed to be really cold here, but it feels more like autumn. Ok, I digress. Moving on. Snow & Ice means...
... something frosty to me. So I was thinking of cold colors that give off an icy vibe. One problem, though. I tend to use warm shades over cold ones. If I do use cool colors, then they are often combined with warm ones. I had no idea how I was going to do this! After a lot of brainstorming (and seeing lots of pictures of very pale ladies) I came up with the following colors: white, silver, grey and icy blue.
Luckily, I have this nice eyeshadow palette by E.L.F. with 100 different shades, so I was able to find all the desired colors. I used three shades of silver/grey (#93, #94 and #97) on my upper eye lid with the lightest shade towards my inner-V and the darkest one towards the outer-V and into the crease. Then the iciest blue shade I could find (#88, didn't want to go too light) was applied on my lash line with a bit of "Uzi", from my Urban Decay Book of Shadows 3 palette, on my inner-V. I colored my waterline and upper lid slightly with a black eye pencil ("Perversion" by Urban Decay). A silvery pink lip color with lip glow by Dior on my lips. Those are the basics. Ermm, basics. Right.
If you google ice princess, I do not think I fit the mold but I did my best. Cold colors will always stand out on me because my skin tone is very warm. This theme has encouraged me to use my blues and silvers more often and I even had the outrageous idea of playing around with my blue lipstick. I decided against that, though, because I had to attend a social function the day I tried out this look.. so, that could have led to some odd looks!
How do you envision a Snow & Ice themed beauty look? What are the colors you would go for? Melissa also thought of cold and frosty shades, so she created a look with white-silver eyeshadow and icy blue eyeliner. What can I say? Great minds think alike! She also added the frosty effect to her skin and lips by highlighting them with cool colors. I can't wait to see what she has in store for us, so go check it out.. and let me know.. What do you think of our looks for Snow & Ice?!
