I have a lot lipsticks, but for some reason I do not have a lot of brown ones. I think I counted about five the other day and I do not wear them very often. There is something about brown lipstick that does not really appeal to me... but then I came across this gorgeous color when wandering around in the Spanish Sephora whilst trying to remember how to say "lipstick" and "eyeshadow" in Spanish in case I wanted assistance.
Then I noticed a brand I had never tried out before so I wanted to take a closer look. Apparently, Astor has existed for 60 years now and is a leading brand in Europe. I must have missed something, because I am fairly unaware of this brand. No matter. The products looked interesting and the prices were not that high (think around Bourjois Paris). As I'd think that one can never have enough lipstick (but one can.. one really can...) I immediately looked at the different lipsticks. I ended browsing through Astor's Soft Sensation Color & Care Lipstick collection, which had 13 different shades. This collection has long-lasting moisturizing lipsticks that allow for both color and care on your lips (as the name clearly states).
The Soft Sensation Color & Care Lipsticks come in pretty packaging. There is something about the combination of white and gold or black and gold. It always ends up looking classy. The lipstick cap has the brand's name engraved in it and the holder is golden with the color and number on the bottom. The cap is easy to remove and the lipstick slides up smoothly. All and all, the lipsticks look more expensive than they really are and this is always a good thing in my book.
I chose #703 called "Dulce Chocolate", which is a milky-chocolate and deep brown-toned lipstick with a silvery shimmer. With just one swatch a lot of product comes off that looks both soft and smooth. By adding more layers the color intensifies and covers the lips perfectly. It is really easy to apply and makes clean lines (if you may want to make your lips look bigger). The only thing I find a bit of a downer is that the lipsticks do not last long. If you happen to eat something the inner bits on your lips will fade away leaving behind lines on the outsides of your lips. So, you really need to keep this lipstick in your bag so you can reapply. Other than that I have no complaints.
Here is a full face picture of me with Dulce Chocolate on. I think the color looks so beautiful and classy, so I am really pleased I found an agreeable brown-toned lipstick. This color will work perfectly for Fall looks, so I am a little bit more excited for autumn (and hot chocolate, yum). If I remember correctly, the Soft Sensation Care & Color Lipsticks cost about €8, which is a very reasonable and inexpensive price for such intensely colored lipsticks! I found them at Sephora in Spain! Your turn! Ever heard of Astor before? Do you have a lot of brown-toned lipsticks? How would you wear them?
