When I was on holiday in Spain some trips to specific shops were set in stone for me. The most important one for beauty products was Sephora. Unfortunately, we do not have Sephora in Belgium (nor in the Netherlands), so it is a standard shop I visit when abroad. I usually go there for products by Urban Decay and Sephora itself, but I unexpectedly ended up buying something from Estée Lauder.
Estée Lauder is an American high-end make up (skincare, haircare, and perfume) brand. I do not remember ever purchasing a make up product by this brand, though I have bought many from brands they own (MAC, Bobbi Brown, Aveda, Clinique, and so on...), so this is a first for me! I bought "Extreme Emerald" from their Pure Color collection, which basically is pure pigment in a creamy and shimmery eyeshadow. It is so creamy, though, that you can really dip your finger too far into the product if you are not careful. So be careful!
The creamy eyeshadows come in a small pot that is filled to the top (yay, no cheapos), but it really had me wondering about how to apply this product. I was afraid that if I would use a brush that I might over-apply or that I would not be able to blend it properly, so I ended up going for my finger tip. I did not find it the easiest eye product to blend out, so I recommend you dab it on your eyelids carefully instead of smearing it. This really is the only negative thing I can come up with, but it is a pretty big one. Afterwards, my finger was covered in product and because it is so amazing.. it was hard to remove, ha!
Extreme Emerald is a beautiful green color with a metallic satin finish giving it cool undertones. What I am loving about the Pure Color Stay-On Shadow Paints (jeeze, what a name) is that you can really choose how to apply the product. If you want you just take a little bit of product and blend it out softly (as seen on the first swatch below) or you just take more product and it smoothes out beautifully over the skin as well. This should make it a good product for smokey eyes, but I found it hard to blend properly (with my finger tip) on my eyelids, because my lids have much softer and sensitive skin than my arm. The color is intense, so it immediately demands attention. If you over-apply the color will take longer do dry out, which could make it crease, but if you apply about as much as swatch number 2 then the product should not crease. At least, it did not for me.
The gorgeous eyeshadow remained perfectly on my eyelids, without creasing, throughout the whole day, nor did it lose its intensity. I did not wear any primer underneath, so I was extremely (get it?) satisfied with how long and how well it lasted. The Pure Color Stay-On Shadow Paint was easy to use in combination with other (regular) eyeshadows. The products cost around €28-€30, which is not very cheap (it is a high-end product) but I certainly do not regret buying it, because this color (green being one of my favorites) stayed on all day making it worth it for me. However, I will probably not be buying other colors from this collection because they are not the easiest to apply and it does not come cheap. What do you think? Ever bought a product by Estée Lauder? Do you like the intensity of this one?
