Think back to Christmas 2013, do you still remember it? Well, I remember buying a beautiful glittery nail polish from the limited Old Hollywood Collection for Christmas made by Bobbi Brown. I can not believe it has taken me this long to finally publish it on Eyes Painted Black, but here goes...
Bobbi Brown envisioned the old glamorous style from Hollywood for Christmas and created an eyeshadow palette filled with gorgeous shimmery but neutral colors (from gold to nude to grey), a classic red lipstick, a shimmery lip gloss and a glitter nail polish. From the whole collection the nail polish appealed to me the post, so I wanted to give it try.
I do not know if you know, but I am not a huge fan of glitters. They do not always spread evenly and they are really hard to get rid off. However, the glitters looked so beautiful in the nail polish bottle.. I could not resist. I thought it was perfect for Christmas or any other formal event (or when you want to sparkle in the sun). The color is called "Chrome" and has silvery gold glitters that can turn blue, yellow, green, when you move them (hence the name). The bottle is simple and classy with a red cap on. It has a normal-sized brush but one application gives off a lot of product. The nail polish is not watery at all, which is why it spreads so well.
You can wear it as a single color, but I think it will look beautiful with a different base coat underneath it too, so that is why I did both for you. To give you a clear idea of how versatile and extremely beautiful this nail polish really is. I applied the nail polish as a base coat (only once heavily applied) and also over the red french manicure tip, as you can see on the pictures I did it on both longer and shorter nails. Once that went away (after a week it still did not start chipping!) I used a nude (brownish) nail polish and "Chrome" as a top coat. The glitters are just so amazing. It does not matter how dark or light it is, it will sparkle like crazy! It is a fun thing to see.
"Chrome" really stays on extremely long. I became impatient and started removing it myself, but it stayed on longer than 1.5 week without chipping, not even the red french manicure tips. Amazing, huh? The nail polish does not only contain glitter but has a soft golden color in there as well, so if you add a couple of layers you will not even need another color. I can not remember how much I paid for this nail polish, I think it was between €15-18, but it was a limited collection so you will probably not find it at Bobbi Brown anymore. Luckily there's always Amazon and the likes, so have a search if you are interested! Oh, btw, it was easier to remove than a regular glitter nail polish, so that was a blessing on its own! What do you think? The perfect Christmas color? I love wearing it right now too!
