Mini Facial With The Konjac Sponge

The online boutique called Heavenly Pure specializes in organic beauty products (for hair -and skincare) from all over the world. It has many luxurious and high quality brands and I was given the Konjac Sponge to try out.

The Konjac Sponge is a well-known product in the world of vegan beauty products. This sponge comes from the Konjac potato plant found in Asia and is made up of mainly water. According to the Konjac Sponge Co, the plant is "is mixed and handmade into our sponges with natural water filtered through volcanic rock". That sounds pretty exotic so I am really enhusiastic! There are five different sponges, they all come in different colors. I received the French Red Clay, which is meant for dry and sensitive skin. This is perfect for me, because my rosacea has made my cheeks very dry and sensitive. This sponge is supposed to cleanse and lightly exfoliate my face. By doing this my face will become brighter, because the French Red Clay is high in iron oxide, which is known to stimulate blood circulation for a healthy glow. All of this sounds very promising and I only hope that it will not worsen my rosacea.

Remarkably so, the Konjac Sponge was originally created for babies so I imagine that my skin should be fine too. I am also pretty sure it will be, because the texture of the sponge is extremely soft when moist. More importantly, the products are 100% organic (made up of the konjac plant and clay) and do not contain chemicals, coloring or additives. This product is meant as a cleanser and it will even remove face make up, but not eye make up. So, all and all,  you can feel comfortable using this on your skin knowing it will not damage it in any way... but we will have to put this to the test

The pictures above show what the product looks like when it is dry. The sponge becomes really hard and smaller, so you should definitely not use it in this state! When the sponge has become moist (look at the pictures below for the desired result) then you are free to use it! So, how do you use it? It is simple, make the sponge wet with warm water until it becomes soft. Squeeze out the excess water slightly (be gentle with it) so it will not start dripping all over your arm when you are using it. Then rub it on your face in a circular motion and use the flat side on your skin. When you are done you softly squeeze the sponge to let all the water come out. I usually wetten the sponge again and squeeze it again to make sure all the dead skin cells are pushed out by the water. That is it!

I have been using this product on a daily base for a month now and I love how my skin feels after each treatment with the Konjac Sponge. My face tends to feel really dry and touching my cheeks can hurt, but after using the French Clay sponge gently (which does not hurt at all) and letting my face dry up naturally, my skin feels more "awake" and is soft to the touch. Even the parts infected with rosacea do not feel as rough as they did before. So, as you can read.. it is really good at nourishing the very sensitive skin on my face, and it also cleanses it really well. Especially around my nose where I can find most of the blackheads. I am so happy I was able to try out the Konjac Sponge and will definitely buy it when I need a new one. Want to hear even more amazing news? A Konjac Sponge will do its job for about 2-3 months if used and conserved properly and only costs €8,50 via Heavenly Pure with free shipping to the Netherlands and Belgium. All the more reason why this is a small price to pay for great results with an organic product that lasts a long time! Yep, it is true. I am convinced! Are you too? Have you ever heard of the Konjac Sponge before?

  5. I heard about the konjac sponge before, but I had no idea what it was! I already have a complicated enough skin care regimen so I'll wait till updating it again. Happy to hear that it's rosacea friendly.

    1. Dat doet me goed! Hm, als jij je roodheid nog meer zou willen verminderen dan zou ik voor de roze spons gaan (die ga ik kopen zodra mijn rode niet meer mee kan)! xx
