You know that I create make up looks of myself that I post on Eyes Painted Black. Well, I thought it would also be cool to do similar posts but with other ladies. In these "beauty make overs" I will only use the make up available to me from their make up stash, so it can be a look they can recreate if they feel like it. I was fortunate enough to have found willing candidates!
My lovely model, Jessica, came to me with a big beauty case filled with cosmetic supplies. She wanted to know more about TBS Shimmer Cube Palette she had bought, so I made up her eyes with three colors from the palette. She told me she had some difficulties with creating a smokey eye with this palette so I wanted to go for a messy (not too tight but soft and blended) look. My biggest challenge was that she did not have a blending brush for the eyes, meaning I had to be careful. I applied a soft black eye pencil to her upper eyelid and blended this a bit, so it would not look too hard. Then I applied black mascara to her upper eyelashes.
Her beauty kit also had lots of lipsticks and two foundations. Unfortunately, the foundation no longer was that effective anymore (an expiration date can make a difference, when it is really overdue) but we managed in the end. I wanted to go with a pink lipstick that would stand out but still look soft, just like her eyes... they catch your attention (those blue shiners) but it still looks soft. I had a bit of trouble applying lipstick to someone else's lips without a lip pencil, though I never apply lipstick with a lip pencil to my own lips.. but that works out just fine! See, it is always easier to apply things to yourself. I guess you just grow accustomed to it! I should not forget to mention I added a bit of pink to her cheeks and that was that. I felt it was done.
Now, I am obviously no make up artist, but I do like playing around with make up. That is the fun of beauty and make up to me, in the end, so I hope you enjoy this posts too. Jessica was pleased with the results so that pleased me as well. I thought I could have done the eyes a bit better, but oh well.. that is for next time! What do you think of this beauty make over? Do you like the idea of doing someone's make up and restricting yourself only to their products and supplies? It can be a bit challenging!
