The Tarte of Giving | Part 3

The Tarte of Giving Maracuja Lipgloss

It is time for the third and final part of discovering my new beauty travel bag "The Tarte of Giving", which was given to me by my kind cousin through a Beauty Swap that we did. Quickly click ahead to learn more about these lip glosses and see more pictures.

The third section contains 8 small to medium-sized Maracuja lip glosses ranging from pink-toned to red-toned colors. The glass tubes all have a golden cap and golden Tarte logo and the applicator is typical for a lipgloss. I have to point out that when applying it to the lips the colors become sheerer than they are as swatches, because you have to spread out the product so look carefully at the bottom of the swatch. That is where it is at its sheerest on my arms. Also, the lip glosses smelled really nice, they had a minty scent to them and after applying them on my lips I noticed that my lips felt tingly.

First up is "Kam", which is a golden shimmery dark pink lip gloss. I think the swatch looks pretty good but when applying it very little comes out so you really have to dig in there a couple of times and apply several layers to your lips for a similar results. However, the lip glosses become rather sticky after a couple of layers so that is not too agreeable either. Alas, I have accepted that these lip glosses are more sheer than they are pigmented so I will spare myself some disappointment. "Kam" definitely is the sheerest color of the 8 lip glosses.

I really think "Finn" is a beautiful deep pink-toned color with bits of red in there (adding to the deepness of the color). And this is one of my favorite colors to wear out of the 8 lip glosses. It becomes a soft and feminine pink on my lips, perfect for romantic looks. Unlike the previous lip gloss, you will not find any shimmer in it and it has a bit more pigment.

"Viv" is a bright pink with golden shimmer in it. Just looking at it, I like the color. It is a really soft and elegant color but at the same time it is bright and young. I do not think it is a typical pink color that I own and the swatch looks really good, too, but it is really sheer on the lips and becomes borderline barbie-pink.

In the bottle "Lizzy" looks like a hot pink color that I love and have many lipsticks of, but after applying it to my arm it looked like it had more purple to it than I had expected. On my lips it looked really good, so I will definitely be wearing this color. The only trick is trying to divide the lip gloss properly.

The Tarte of Giving Maracuja Lipgloss

I was very excited about "Sully", because I am a big fan of burgundy and berry-toned lip products. It looks softer than I had expected on my arm and on my lips, but it still looks good. It is not a heavy color on my lips at all, so it will well with many looks.

The Tarte of Giving Maracuja Lipgloss

"John" looks like a classic red color, but after swatching it on my arm I noticed that there is a bit of pink in there making the color softer. The color is very similar to "Sully" on the lips, but it is better pigmented and has much more red in it (obviously).

Another beautiful color is "Spence". This coral-pink lipgloss has a bit of a golden shimmer in it and becomes a brighter on my arm. It applies pretty evenly on my lips, so that pleases me, and it gives my lips a soft coral color.

"Ro" was the color I was dreading out of all of them, because it is a pink-nude toned color which often works better on a fair skin.. but even then.. "nude" lip colors can turn out to be more awful looking rather than pretty looking. Luckily, I really liked this color on my lips because it was sheer and showed some pinkness of my lips but it was toned down because of the lipgloss. I will be using this color more often when I have heavy eye make-up on.

And here is an overview of the 8 Maracuja lip glosses on my lips, as you can see the colors are much sheerer, but I still like the different colors they give. What I also like is that the lip glosses really take care of your lips. Just with trying out all of the lip glosses for you, I realized the lip glosses leave behind a slightly sticky product but I also noticed that my lips felt softer than ever and after having worn them for a couple of days my lips were not chapped anymore. That is a big bonus!

As mentioned before, if you are looking for a really pigmented lipgloss that you can use on its own than these lip glosses are not what you want. However, if you want a nice sheer color to your lips or apply the lipgloss on top of a similar colored lipstick then these lip glosses could be for you. With just one or two layers the lip glosses are not sticky and they smell wonderful! Would I buy these myself? No, probably not. I am not a lipgloss-kind-of-girl and I would especially not purchase them if they are not pigmented enough. My favorite colors are Finn, Lizzy, and Spence and my least favorite would have to be Viv and Ro. What about you? What kind of lip glosses do you look for? Sheer or heavily pigmented? And which color of these 8 is your favorite, and why?

  12. im also not a lip gloss kind of girl, i sense that you like lipsticks more like me yes? :) if im going to start using lip gloss id probably go for the really pigmented ones over the sheer tints like these. but these are nice to display in a muji case tho lol ive always wanted to do that... collect millions of glosses and organize them inside an acrylic case :P
