I am not completely sure why it has taken me such a long time to review the foundation that I love to use, but the time has finally come. Click ahead to discover my favorite foundation.
Bobbi Brown is a professional American make up artist who has made her name into her brand. A brand that I associate with products for women of color, which is why I ended up trying it. I have always had lots of difficulty with finding the right foundation (especially when I was in my teens and the supplies for darker-toned women was just very limited). It was either too light and made me look bleak or it was too dark and my face did not match my body at all. Then I met Bobbi Brown.
According to Bobbi Brown, you should look for a foundation with a "slightly yellow cast" in it, even if you yourself mainly have pink or neutral undertones in your skin, because it will make your face look healthier. You should try it out and see if it works for you! Anywho, let me continue. I have the Skin Foundation SPF 15 in the color Honey. Now can I just emphasize the amount of colors available? Bobbi Brown offers 20 different colors (but with other foundations it can go up to 24)!!! The foundation comes in a clear glass bottle with a black cap on top, so it is very hygienic. You just push out the foundation and get to work. As you can see, it is liquid foundation so I always apply it to my hand and then I use my brush to apply it to my face.
I have rosacea on my cheeks as you can see on the picture on the left so I get all these lovely and wonderful papules and pustules (Gosh, medieval-like words). What I love about this foundation is that it gives light to medium coverage and it does not scream "I AM WEARING FOUNDATION", sorry for the caps lock.. Just making a point. So it covers up the redness and hides away the bumps a bit, but it never looks cakey or like I just added four layers of make-up (which I did not). The foundation is very easy to work with and quickly blends in to my skin. I have never noticed a scent and it has SPF 15 in it, so you are also protecting your face from those evil sun rays. The foundation stays on a long while, especially if you set it with a powder. For that I use my Illuminating Finish Powder. I think it also clearly shows in the picture that my pores become less visible. That deserves a real cheer of happiness! I only need about two squirts of the foundation to get the right look for my face and my neck! See the pictures below as an example:
The foundation really does its work, because I do not contour my face but it adds color in all the right places without making my face look flat from one evened out color. To give you an example, have a look at the left picture above. I am only wearing foundation, concealer, eyeliner, eyeshadow sparkles and a lip balm. So no contouring, no blush, just foundation on my face. It really perfectly blends out with your skin and does not feel creamy, sticky, or icky. I never notice I wear any foundarion until I look in the mirror and realize I do not look like a zombie (but that is mainly due to the concealer under my eyes). I have been using the Skin Foundation SPF 15 by Bobbi Brown for years and I am very pleased with it. You can get this foundation for €42, $48 or £30. I know it does not come cheap, but I only need a little bit so its use is very economical... and certainly worth it! So, even if you are a lot lighter/darker than I am or have red undertones (I mean, did you see my foundation-free cheeks?) you should definitely have a go at the Bobbi Brown foundation! Have you already tried it before? What are your experiences?
