Winter has not been very harsh here, but having chapped lips does not depend on the seasons for me. Unfortunately, I tend to always have them, so I was very happy when www.farmaline.be sent me Vichy's NutriExtra Extraordinary Balm for dry to damaged lips.
Vichy Laboratories has over 80 years of experience in creating face, body and sun care products containing dermatologically approved ingredients. I am sure most of you will know the brand and it is available at the pharmacy. The Extraordinary Balm comes in a 15 ml sober-looking tube with pink writing on it that makes it more pleasing to the eyes. The product is hypoallergenic, paraben-free and it contains white bee wax that will fill out your lips.
When removing the cap, I noticed that it has a slanted tube tip that pushes out the lip balm once you press the tube. I have not tried a lip balm like this before, so it was certainly fun to play with it. I do not apply it to my lips directly, but I use my finger instead. This is far more hygienic than dipping or rubbing my finger in a lip balm jar, but if I wanted to be even more hygienic I could also use a lip brush. But I find it a bit pointless with a slanted tube tip for lip balm.
At first the product seems really thick and greasy but when applied to skin or lips it becomes instantly smooth and glossy, as you can see on the picture below. It also melts away into the small cracks of your lips and that is how it fills and evens out on your lips. I normally do not rub my lips a lot with lip balm on (because it defeats the purpose) but the NutriExtra Extraordinary Balm is so smooth that I get the urge to do so very often. It contains a soft scent, which to me seems something fruity like raspberries and I do not mind this on the lips.
I am very used to using really greasy lip balms for overnight treatment that makes my lips instantly soft and chap-free the next day, so when I compare this product to those types of lip balms then the it does fall a bit short. But I do not think this is completely fair, because this lip balm definitely softens and soothes my chapped lips. The healing process is just a bit slower than a really greasy one, so it makes this product much more wearable for both during the night for healing and during the day for glossy lips that continue healing. The NutriExtra Extraordinary Balm (of 15 ml) is available at www.farmaline.be for only €6,20. Ever heard of this lip balm? And have you tried lip balms in tubes before? Or do you prefer them in a jar?
