I cannot say that I own a lot of concealers. Once I find a good product I tend to stick with it. The same goes for my YSL concealer/highlighter Touche Éclat (I still need to write a review about it, I know) but I knew of the Bobbi Brown concealer kit & corrector and had heard how great it was, so it was clear.. I would have to try it out sometime. Well, that time has finally come.
I am a huge fan of Bobbi Brown because it was the first brand I discovered that had such a wide variety of products for almost any skin tone. As a girl with a medium to dark skin color I found it very difficult to find the right foundation in my exact color, but Bobbi Brown did just do that for me. This is why I will remain a Bobbi Brown fan! Its corrector and concealer kit are two different products. The corrector comes in a small circle shaped holder and the concealer kit (consisting of concealer and powder) is larger and more oval shaped. The packaging of both products are fully black with "Bobbi Brown" written in white, which is something I find quite simple and classy.
My foundation by Bobbi Brown is in the color "honey", so the corrector I bought is "light/medium peach" and the concealer is also in "honey" and the powder is always a yellow-powder, no matter what the color of the concealer is. So, why would I use a corrector, a concealer and powder? It seems like overkill, right? Well, according to Bobbi Brown the corrector is a "wakeup call for tired eyes. Corrector is pink- or peach-based to neutralize under-eye darkness and is designed to be used before Creamy Concealer". Bobbi Brown also claims to be longer-wearing, brightening, easy to blend and it does not crease. The concealer kit "blends instantly to cover and brighten dark circles... line-less look... fuss-free pressed powder sets concealer for long-lasting wear".
I am blessed (not) with dark circles under my eyes, that always makes me look tired and (you know, if I did not sleep well - meaning almost every day) I get this zombie-vibe. So a good concealer can make all the difference in the world. Below you will find a photo of what my dark circles look like in direct and indirect light.
I first have to apply the corrector underneath my eye, which feels thick and does seem to crease a little bit, just in the smaller wrinkles below my eyes (as you can see on the photo above). So I had to softly dap this bit with my finger to try and even out the corrector. The corrector instantly makes your dark circles bright, but it looks a bit odd. It obviously needs the concealer. Adding the concealer makes the substance on my face even creamier and thicker. I worry about how fake this will look on my face. Not natural at all. Luckily, the magic of the yellow-powder completely matifies the creamy products and makes it look natural and bright. After this I just applied my Bobbi Brown foundation, et voila... behold the results below. Quite amazing, right?
Now, I do not wish to shower you with selfies, but I felt that the first time I tried them out (of which you see the pictures above), I did not do it as well or as flawless as I could have, so I woud like to share some other more "spontaneous" selfies of mine (taken with my phone) when I was wearing the products too... so you can really see how well it looks. Please do not take the selfies seriously (I certainly don't), some were made as a joke for friends so every time that I look at them... I laugh a little.. but now that I am sharing them with you all.. I cringe a little haha! But here you go, the corrector and concealer kit are great!
Interesting how the light can make my skin tone so very different in each picture! Completely beside the point, though. The last two pictures were taken in the evening, so I had been wearing the corrector and concealer for quite some hours. I can happily say that, even though the corrector and concealer kit are very creamy (more so than to my liking) and slightly thicker on the skin, if applied right these products can help make your face look flawless, natural and bright underneath your eyes instead of dark. I am certainly happy I bought the products and will gladly use them. The coverage is much better than my YSL Touche Éclat and stays on longer throughout the day, but that does not mean I think the products in total are better! I think I am going to do a comparison post soon.. you know, once I actually review the YSL concealer/highlighter. Bobbi Brown is available at Bijenkorf & Douglas in the Netherlands and Parfuma in Belgium. Or click here for general information. The corrector contains .05 oz or 1.4 grams and is €28 and the concealer kit contains .05 oz or 1.4 grams of concealer and .06 oz or 1.7 grams of powder and it costs €33. What do you think? Are these creamy products also the key to making your skin look flawless? Do you own products by Bobbi Brown?
