Now that we are a week into 2014, I thought it would be the right time to reflect a bit on my favorite beauty products that I have either purchased or used a lot in 2013. I have not done a 'favorites' post yet, because it takes some time for me to have favorites...
Surely, there are products I instantly fall in love with.. but I mention those to you (e.g. in a review), anyways! Well, I thought this would be a good way to combine my favorites with the closure of 2013. I have not discovered skin care products in 2013 that wowed me, so I will mainly focus on make-up.
This Sleek "Storm" Palette really caught me by surprise, because I had never thought the colors would be interesting. Had I not won this product, then I would not have bought it myself. Luckily, I did win it and it gave me a chance to discover how pigmented and beautiful the colors are.
I bought these Zoeva cream eyeliners for myself as a Sinterklaas present (= typical Dutch and Belgian kid's festive tradition) and I was so happy with them. I love green colors on eyes and I especially love that the cream eyeshadows were really smooth and did not need a lot of product to give the eyes so much color!
In 2013 I bought the most beauty products for my cheeks ever. Never have I owned so many blushes or highlighters (which are not many at all, by the way) since 2013. I am only sharing one amazing product with you, because the others are still to come on Eyes Painted Black! So, this blush tint by Catrice was an amazing (budget) find for me! It gives off a natural and healthy glow and stays on your cheeks all day! Side note: you can also use it for your lips. Quite versatile.
You may have noticed that I am a lover of lipsticks. I own so many and I keep on buying them. The first one I want to share is Mon Rouge by Lolita Lempicka. A gorgeously shiny lipstick part of a new collection that will be available in stores from March 2014, so make sure you get one. I will surely be buying other colors by this brand!
My first matte lipstick "Russian Red" by MAC was an immediate must-have. The color is intense and beautiful with that great matte finish that gives your lips a completely different look (and feel!). The thing I love the most about this lipstick is that it stays on all day. It pretty much survives everything! So, this lipstick has become my go-to product when I know it is super important to keep my lipstick on all day long without having to re-apply.
My favorite foundation of 2013 is by Bobbi Brown. I use Skin Foundation with SPF 15, color Honey. It is a light to medium foundation (texture-wise), so it gives a very natural look. That is why I like it so much. My face does not have to look flawless, just a bit more evened out. That is all I want from my foundation, but that does not mean that Bobbi Brown does not do that. This foundation is very buildable so you could definitely go for a flawless look! I have not written a post about it yet, but click here for more information.
Recently I bought a concealer by Bobbi Brown. I am very interested in it, but it has not stolen my heart yet. Currently, that place is still held by YSL Touche Éclat highlighter/concealer. It is liquid, which I find easier to apply and it blends out well underneath my eyes. It makes me look more awake and I even use it without the foundation. That is how well it melts into my skin! I have not written a post about it either, shame on me, but click here for more information.
This budget nail polish was my favorite find for my nails in 2013. I am usually not a huge fan of glitter nail polish, but Time for Romance by Essence I could not resist. A beautiful pink-purple color with silver glitters and shine. It looks beautiful with both one or two layers!
Well, these products have been my favorites for 2013 (and will continue to be so), so I fully recommend them to you. Be sure to click on the links added to each product to understand why they are so amazing and to see more pictures and some swatches! What do you think of the aforementioned products? Have you used any of them? And what are your 2013 favorites?
