As most Dutch readers might know, a while back there was a big discount at the Big Bazar for Essie nail polishes (not sure if there still is?!) and I asked my kind younger sister to surprise me with her picks. I am happy she got these red-toned nail polishes and she also got others, but I am saving those for another time!
Well, why is it such a big deal to get discount on Essie? Essie is known to be a high quality nail varnish brand and the price definitely matches the quality, which is usually about $8.50 or €10. That still is a bit too expensive for me, so I would not buy Essie for its regular price unless it is a very unique looking color! Lucky for me, and lots of other Dutchies, these two colors are gorgeous and were on sale!
Leading Lady is a beautiful deep red slightly purple toned color with red shimmery glitters in it that give off a rich and festive vibe. This color would be perfect for Christmas (especially because it is not typical red) or for Valentine's Day or just any regular day you want to opt for classy nails! As you can see on the pictures, the brush is quite thick and it gives off a lot of product. Leading Lady applies and covers perfectly with only one layer, but I added a second layer just to bring out the purple in it. My nails dried quickly and the nail polish stayed on for a good couple of days before it starts to chip.
She's Pampered (what a funny name!) is a classic red color and I have so many of those, but one can not have enough! I love this nail polish because, just like Leading Lady, it applies easily and without any fuzz onto your nails and you only need one layer to get good coverage and vibrant red nails! This color also dried up in a matter of minutes (with two layers and a base coat), which is more than satisfying! This classy red can also be worn for everyday wear or something a bit more special, either way.. to me it is always elegant.
I did not add a top coat on top of either of the polishes, because I wanted you to see the colors for what they are without the extra shine. But adding a beautiful shiny top coat would really emphasize your now beautiful nails. I added the other color as an accent nail just because I wanted to do something a bit different. Essie is world wide available in beauty departments, so if interested.. make sure you take a look! Or you could have a look at Amazon, on which they are available for an affordable price too: Leading Lady and She's Pampered. Which one is your favorite? Do you own nail polishes similar to these? And are you an Essie fan?
