I had read a couple of reviews about the Clinique Chubby Stick; a shadow tint for the eyes. I was particularly interested in the green one, because it is one of my favorite colors to wear for brown eyes. At first, it seemed like a big pencil stick would not do the trick to create beautiful looks... I mean, the application of it would not be that convenient, right? Think again.
Clinique Laboratories creates beauty products, such as skincare and fragrances but also make-up. An interesting discovery I made was that the brand is owned by the Estée Lauder Coorperation, which also owns Bobbi Brown and MAC. Did you already know that? All their products are developed by dermatologists, tested for allergies and 100% perfume free.
According to Clinique their shadow tint chubby sticks are:
Sheer wash of lightweight, creamy colour slips on. Layerable and long-wearing. Versatile, too. Glide one on for a swift wash of colour. Appropriate for sensitive eyes and contact lens-wearers.
Whether that is true, we will discover soon enough.. but let us focus on the packaging first. The chubby sticks come in Clinique's usual packaging, namely with a beautiful green and nature-like print on them. The chubby stick itself displays its color (in my case "mighty moss") on the outside with a silver cap and its twisting system. To me that looks really simple and classy. Both the cap and the twisting system work perfectly fine; it comes off easily and it twists smoothly.
When I swatched them, I became immediately excited. If you push it softly on your skin, it will give you a sheer application. But if you push it a bit harder or you build the layers, then you will notice that the color becomes a beautiful moss green color. If you look closely, you will notice the soft golden shimmer the green shadow tint contains. The eyeshadow is quite creamy, so it applies easily to the skin and there's no fall-out. When you smudge it, the color becomes sheerer and the shimmer clearer.
I must say that I am in love! There is so much you can do with this chubby stick! You can go for a sheer and soft green color or build it until it becomes a darker and intense green. The golden shimmers make the eyeshadow quite enchanting. So, is Clinique's their claim true? Yes, it is a sheer wash, very layerable and good to the eyes and skin. Also, it pretty much stays on throughout day.
|Small observation: my boyfriend is much taller than I am, so he takes pictures from a higher POV. Must change that.|
Above you will find the simplest eye look (I have to study so I have to be practical about how I spend my time), but I hope it will give you a clear indication of how nice, well-pigmented and shimmery this chubby stick is! I find that it easy to use on the eyes. You just start with your first layer and add more to it. The creamy product blends out easier on the eyes than it did on my arm, so you can surely create different looks with it. You can buy this product at your beauty store! In the Netherlands for €17,55. In Belgium for €18,15. Or go directly to their website for more information! As I am sure you noticed, I am very excited about this product and I feel compelled to try out other colors as well. What about you? Do you feel compelled too? Or do you already own a chubby stick shadow tint by Clinique?
