Huh, wait? Is this right? A post on Tuesday? Yes, it is correct. Kirsty, who is a loyal reader of my blog, tagged me for this "All I Want For Christmas-Tag" and I could not resist her. After that, I was also tagged by Lidewij, thank you for that! So, I am publishing my one-and-only extra post of 2013 in honor of these two lovely ladies. I hope you enjoy reading it.
1. What is your favorite Christmas song? And which do you dislike the most?
I don't really have a favorite Christmas song, per se, but I do like the old songs that I used to listen to as a kid. So, those are most likely to be added to my Christmas music list. Think of... "Wham - Last Christmas", "Mariah Carey - All I Want For Christmas" and "Santa Baby". Which do I dislike the most? I can't think of any off the top of my head, but there are plenty I would skip if I heard them on the radio.
2. When do you put up your Christmas tree? In which colors are the accessories?
Preferably, I would like to put up my Christmas tree around the start of December, because I feel that is the right time to do so. Besides, Christmas trees aren't the cheapest things in the world, so I might as well have it in my home as long as possible, right? However, this year we put it up only a couple of weeks before Christmas, because we were too busy to get one earlier. And last year we didn't even have a Christmas tree. Aww. We went to the shops looking for red and silver Christmas accessories, but unfortunately most were sold out. So, we ended up with different colors and without garlands. It's a pity, but at least we have a tree this year.. even though it looks kind of plain.
Euhm, do my job? Santa Claus has a magical job to perform after all. Can't let all those kiddies down.
4. What is your Ultimate Christmas?
For me Christmas is about spending time with your family (not that you'd need a reason for it, but at least you make sure you're together with loved ones on these days). So, just getting together, sitting down around a table and having a big meal together. That's all.
5. What are your personal wishes (gifts and non-material wishes) for this Christmas?
Of course, Christmas is also about presents! At least to me. I don't believe in this idealized and romanticized version of Christmas. I think you'd end up being stressed way more than actually just enjoying the holidays with your loved ones. So yeah, it is fun to give something to others. Whether it is something material, store-bought or hand-made, or a gesture. It's all about showing you care and bothered to do something thoughtful.
This is not something I link with Christmas?! But my wishes for the world in general, no matter what day it is, is that people are happy. I think the most important goal in life is to be happy. What does that mean for society? Well, in some societies big changes would have to be made and in other societies people's mindset would have to change. But we are the only ones who can make ourselves happy. I hope that kind of made sense. As mentioned before, Christmas is about giving, so we should definitely think more about what we can give to others that are less fortunate and then do it. I've done this in the past through charity-work and/or giving away things such as clothing, toys, etc.
I know this is sort of last-minute now, so I would like to tag anyone who is interested in doing this tag; anyone who is interested in sharing their thoughts on Christmas with us... Please feel free :)
I hope you enjoyed reading my Christmas tag. Hopefully the writing wasn't as scattered as my mind currently is! I wish you all Your Ultimate Christmas. Happy Holidays!
