IncuFashion is a fashion event in Antwerp organized by five young adults in cooperation with 16 stores and designers, and of course with the help of many models and volunteers. This innovating concept is solely created to expose up-and-coming designers and models to young and trendy fashion lovers.
The fifth edition of IncuFashion was held at the MAS museum, an amazing and high building, which was used to the fullest because it was hosted on three different floors. The sixth floor had the bar area and an exposition, the seventh floor was the backstage area for the models and designers and the eight floor is where all the magic happend.
Upon arrival I had the opportunity to chat with some designers or representers of stores and the following three really stood out to me. Tutu Chic is a colorful and girly brand that was created 1,5 years ago by Freya Poppe, who felt that color was lacking in the world and that people should stand out in the crowd more often. Her inspiration came from her "Poppy-style" (doll-like, girly, soft and sweet inspirations), and she tries to add "La Vie en Rose" (as much pink as possible) into all her designs. Moreover, through the use of "La Vie en Rose" and "Poppy-style" she tries to add that bit of spark and color intro other's daily life, especially in the colder seasons when people turn to darker colors.
Not a designer, but a brand new store called Clouds of Fashion had a rack filled with amazing eclectic street style so I had to go for a quick chat with, Laurentine van Landeghem, the owner. The idea to start a shop came from many DIY-projects and grew quickly and successfully into a pop-up store, up until a month ago.. when she opened her first store. She aims to sell contemporary fashion that is affordable and will appeal to young women. You can find her shop at Melkmarkt 6 in Antwerp!
Last but certainly not least is Julie Van den Berghe, a new fashion designer and stylist, who's fresh out of school and ready to explore her creativity through her clothing. At IncuFashion, she used a compilation of clothing and designs that are based on her youth and her four brothers. Julie uses old drawings she made as a child and turns this into very futuristic t-shirts and the most amazing and modern necklaces.
Whilst the organizers, designers and models were taking care of their last-minute preparations, I anxiously took my seat and was all set to watch the fashion show. The show itself lasted about 1,5 hours with a break in between. Each designer or store chose their own music and two times a band called Ivory Grand performed songs from their debut album. Quite amazing, you should have a listen! Well, I could babble on forever, but let's share some pictures instead!
|If anyone knows knows which brand is one the right, please let me know. My apologies.|
|another great music performance, great choice of songs as well. click here.|
As you can see from the pictures, it's quite a wonderful and very diverse show. The night was so entertaining with the two bands, a dance group of young ladies and "mama's open mic". She had a wonderful message to share with us, you should look her up as well! All these wonderful young talents. I surely had an amazing time and it was lots of fun to meet the designers and models. So, thank you kindly IncuFashion for inviting me to your 5th edition! What are your favorite looks? And which designer sounds the most appealing to you?
