I was so fortunate to receive a lovely package by 1001 Extensions filled with two sets of hair extensions. Now, I have never tried hair extensions before so I was really curious about what it would look like on me and even more so, would I be able to do it myself?!
According to 1001 Extensions all their hair extensions are:
"remy hair, of top quality, and 100% of natural indian origin. The extensions are easy to curl, straighten and color. They can be applied easily and within a couple of minutes".
Well, I will put some of that to the test! This is what my hair usually looks like when it is at its 'most voluminous', unfortunately I have very thin hair and you can see the skin of my head quite easily, so I was more than willing to try out these hair extensions. See if they might make a bit of a difference, at least in volume! I chose the shortest straight hair extensions in black, they were 38 cms long. I did this for three reasons: 1) I am not a huge fan of long hair, 2) I will be cutting my hair someday soon, 3) I wanted volume more than I wanted length.
Each set of hair contained different batches of hair but all had clip-ons, otherwise I would not have been able to apply them myself. The singles (a batch of hair with one clip) came twice, the duos (a batch of hair with two clips) came twice as well, same goes for the triplets! And another batch of hair with four clips was also added to the whole set. I had specifically asked for two sets to see how much I could put on and how voluminous my hair would become.
After I figured out how to open the clips (I was afraid I would damage them, but this was really not the case) I started testing it a bit by placing them in my hair. Obviously, I am not an expert yet by just trying it out for the first time, but I found that they were easy to apply once I got the hang of it. Here's a little action shot, but a staged one. The real deal I had to do in the bathroom!
I divided my hair into layers, then I would apply the biggest batches in the middle and work my way up to higher layers. If you desire a (visual) tutorial, just let me know and I will work on one for you. At first I did not put them in tightly enough - learning experience - so I took them out and put them in again. They are really easy to put in and take out. I was worried about this, because my hair gets tangled very quickly. At first I could still feel the clips in my hair, but after 30 minutes or so I did no longer realize they were there. My hair did feel heavier, but that makes sense! I was going for volume and it's what I got!
I do not know about you, but when comparing the way my hair normally looks like with the way my hair looks with the hair extensions in. I have to say that I absolutely love the hair extensions! They are a welcome hair tool for when I am going for a fuller and longer look. I ended up not even needing all of the batches of hair. I applied the first set completely and of the second set I added the smallest batches (the singles and duos) and I love the outcome. It looks so natural and you don't see the clips in my hair. I'm absolutely satisfied! But I believe these hair extensions by 1001 hair extensions only work if you want to add some volume, for length they are really too thin. If you're interested in the hair extensions as well, then click here for more information! The hair extensions come in 12 colors, 4 lengths and 2 styles, so there's plenty to choose from. What do you think? Are hair extensions for you? Do you want more volume or length?

IMPORTANT UPDATE: SINCE 24-01-2014 IT CAME TO MY ATTENTION THAT MANY GIRLS WHO ORDERED PRODUCTS FROM 1001 EXTENSIONS HAVE EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS WITH 1001 EXTENSIONS, MEANING THEY NEVER RECEIVED THEIR PACKAGE OR RECEIVED BAD EXTENSIONS. SO PLEASE BE CAREFUL WHEN BUYING HAIR EXTENSIONS ONLINE. MORE INFORMATION ON THIS MATTER FOR DUTCH READERS, CLICK HERE.
