Nail Pearls

There have been many trends when it comes to nail polish. You have the sand-effect nail polish, the dust-effect, the good old glitters and also all kinds of nail pearls to make your nails stand out! I'm not very big on these trends but I sure don't mind trying them out every now and then, which is why I bought these nail pearls by Claire's when I saw them.

If you're a very attentive reader, then you might remember the cute looking Fragrance Sticks (by Claire's) post I did a short while ago, I bought the nail pearls at the same time! I liked the package it came in and it was on sale at the time, so I thought to myself: "Why not?!"

The nail pearls come in a heart-shaped nail polish bottle and is accompanied by a cute little silver funnel, which makes it easier for you to apply the nail pearls on your freshly polished nails. I had bought purple nail pearls and luckily I had several purple nail polishes lying around. In this case, I used "Heavy Metallic" by Catrice Cosmetics.

After applying a base coat and 2 layers of the purple nail polish I had carefully placed my finger on a slightly folded piece of paper and placed the funnel on top of my nail. Then I just poured the nail pearls on my nail, it spread everywhere but luckily the piece of paper made sure it didn't go anywhere it shouldn't. As you can see on the photo the pearls spread out a bit too much for my liking (leaving too much space between certain pearls), so I had to push them inwards a bit here and there but that was easy to do. I have to say that I really like the effect that these purple nail pearls give and I think it would be a great thing to have on my nails for a fun night out or a special occasion.

That being said, unfortunately, the nail pearls looked like this the next morning. I couldn't stop touching them (it's just the urge!) and every now and then my nails would touch the sides of something hard and some pearls would just fall off. After having washed my hands quite some times and after showering the lovely purple nail pearls turned silver, thus losing their color. I suppose this was something I expected, because I don't really have high expectations haha. So, I didn't mind the next day. Plus, they were very easy to remove. All and all, I am satisfied with these nail pearls for a special occasion but it really doesn't work if you'd like to wear them for a longer period. At least not with these nail pearls! I should add I didn't apply a top coat, because that just seemed strange to me.

What are your thoughts on nail pearls? Something you'd fancy? Found any that are wearable for a longer period?

  4. That's fun for a special occasion, I don't get how some people can redo their nails everyday. I'm actually a fan of glitter myself, but pearls are a bit more chic.

  14. i agree with you i think they will look nice for special occassions only, like maybe for a costume or an event. i like how you used the term nail pearls instead of the other popular term for it "caviar nails" :)
