Halloween Make-Up Ideas

source
All Hallow's Eve can be the spookiest or funnest time of the year. I certainly opt for the latter option, but I don't scare easily when I know it's all fake! Last time I wrote an article on Halloween Costume Ideas, now I would like to focus on make-up! Another reason to love it, you can create the most different and creative looks, that you wouldn't wear on any other day.

If I had the time I would have done all the make-up looks myself to create a DIY for you guys, but unfortunately school has started so I have to start thinking more strategically. This is why I'm sharing make-up ideas as an inspiration for different halloween costumes. I will be posting photo's and links to tutorials that I think are explained well. I hope you do become inspired, as I am too! It was impossible to pick too many looks, otherwise you'd be reading this until the next day, so I only chose four. The four different looks that I have chosen are based on popularity and on difficulty, so hopefully it will appeal to the masses as well as the individual. Enjoy!

The Vampire
Pretending to be a bloodsucker isn't very hard! The key features for your make-up are light blue eyes, red & black eyeshadow, blood red lips, a drop of blood next to your lips from your last savory victim.

I dressed up as a vampire too a long time ago and I used this tutorial by Michelle Phan as my inspiration! She presents it well and explains everything in such a clear way that it's easy to understand. If you're still looking for costume ideas, click here to find out what you need for a vampiric look!

The Faerie
Fairies are creatures associated with the forest, nature and lots and lots of green, but there are so many kind of fairies that you are very free to go with whatever you like. Be an Evil Fairy or be a Romantic Gentle Fairy! It's all up to you. Key features: eye make-up! Be creative here.

I love this look and I think it's reasonable easy to try, but be sure to try this out first. As you should with all your looks, to make sure you like it and you're capable of creating it! Also, don't be afraid! Just try. This was an old Halloween look of mine too and I just looked at a lot of tutorials then just made something that was a combination of it all.

Queen of Hearts
If you're interested in this character from "Alice in Wonderland" or from the card game, then there are several possibilities for you. I have displayed three here with the photos and video tutorial. You can create a heart on your face create for a more elegant look, or you can add smaller hearts spread over your face and put focus on your eyes or go for the latest version of what the Queen of Hearts looks like according to Burton's "Alice in Wonderland"!

Black Swan
Another famous character from a well-known movie is the Black Swan. A seemingly harmless ballet dancer is taken over by the wicked Black Swan (if I understood the movie correctly). This look might be a bit harder to create because it has lots of detail in the eyes, but practice makes perfect!

These were some fairly easy make-up ideas for Halloween that I wanted to share with you, because they are cool in a non-scary way! What is your Halloween look and make-up going to be like? Or what are your favorite make-up looks for Halloween?
