E.L.F. Cream Eyeliner & Brush

source

When I ordered my products from the Eyes Lips Face site, I was amazed with how inexpensive most of the items were so I ordered a bunch of them! In the past you have seen my review of the 100 Piece Marble Eyeshadow Palette and of four of their lipsticks. Well, now it's time for E.L.F.'s cream eyeliner and eyeliner brush!

The cream eyeliner by E.L.F. comes in a small square see-through jar with a simple plastic black lid with the product's name in white. I find it a beautifully simple and classic packaging, so that was very pleasing from the start! The lid comes off easily as well. When touching the eyeliner with my finger I noticed that the texture indeed was very creamy, but was very pigmented. The cream eyeliner comes in eleven colors and I chose black.

In the first photo you see a mini brush that was delivered with the cream eyeliner, but I am not a fan of this. Not because it does not work (because it does), but because it is simply too short for my liking! That is why I ordered a longer eyeliner brush of the "Essential" line just for the creamy eyeliner. Apparently, all brushes of E.L.F. have been created by makeup artist Scott Vincent Borba and they claim that it has:

"a refined, gentle brush tip that perfectly reaches the inner and outer lash line for ultra thin and smooth application".

Well, this had to be put to the test. The brush was soft but stiff when I touched it for the first time, so I was quite curious about how it would translate the creamy eyeliner to my eyelids. The brush allowed me to easily apply as much eyeliner as I wished and it made great and straight thin lines, and when moving a bit to the side of the brush the line would quickly become thicker.

Here you can see three swatches of the creamy eyeliner on my hand created with the eyeliner brush. A thin line on the left, slightly thicker in the middle and usually how thick I make the line on the right. What I love about this eyeliner is that it is much softer than a liquid eyeliner yet it remains so strongly pigmented. In that respect this cream eyeliner is much closer to an eye pencil than a liquid eyeliner. The latter might seem harsher with certain eye looks, so this creamy eyeliner certainly is perfect for more softer and romantic eye make-up. I should also add that the eyeliner does not smudge at all when you try to remove it with water after applying. Perhaps I did not use enough water and excessive force when trying to rub it away (though one shouldn't on eye lids, anyways) so it stays on well, even when in the rain. It also stays on the whole day, it does not fade away! What more could you want?

on the left: swatches in indoor light.                           on the right: swatches in natural light.

I would like to offer you two examples of me actually wearing the cream eyeliner by E.L.F., of course applied with the aforementioned eyeliner brush. The first eye look you can find back here, I created it as my first tutorial. So, if you're interested in recreating this look then click on the link! The second picture I took in the train on my way to the Netherlands (hence the bad lighting... and yes, I was bored).

What more can I say? I can't think of any downsides and have I mentioned the prices? The cream eyeliner is only €4 in the Netherlands and Belgium£3.75 if you're from the UK and $3 if you're from the States. The eyeliner brush is about 1 euro/pound/dollar. Not from any of these countries? Click here to find out more. Next time I am ordering more products from E.L.F. I will definitely be buying another cream eyeliner but in another color, perhaps a brown tone. Ever tried a cream eyeliner? Happen to have had any experience with these E.L.F. products? What are your thoughts?
