Body Butters by the Body Shop

It's very important to keep your skin moisturized so I'm sure almost everyone has heard of the various Body Butters made by the Body Shop, but if you're one of the rare few who hasn't yet, then this post is your chance! Today I will be sharing four lovely body butters!

The Body Shop is a beauty brand that produces ethically produced products inspired by nature. It offers more than 900 skin care, make-up, hair care items and the likes. The Body Butters are one of their most well-known products.

As you can see the packages are quite nice and clearly state what the moisturizer will smell like, which would be the reason you pick one body butter over the other! Its content is very creamy and rich, so the intense cream is perfect for any winter day or if you have a dry skin. Though it should be perfectly fine for a summery day if applied well in advance, because the cream blends in well with your skin and after a couple of minutes you won't notice it anymore. You'll only notice a soft skin and its delicious scent. The body butters are meant for your body, obviously.

Strawberry Body Butter

The ingredients are: Aqua (water), Butyrospermum parkii (shea butter), Cyclomethicone, Glycerin (glycerin), Theobroma cacao (cacao butter), Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Lanolin Alcohol (lanolin-alcohol), Phenoxyethanol, Parfum, Methylparaben, Fragaria ananassa (strawberry oil), Propylparaben, Xanthan Gum, Tocopherol (vitamin E), Benzyl Alcohol, Disodium EDTA, Fragaria chiloensis (strawberry oil), Limonene, Sodium Hydroxide, Cinnamal, Rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary oil), Linalool, Citral, Colour: Caramel, CI 14700.

Mango Body Butter

The ingredients are: Aqua (Solvent/Diluent), Mangifera Indica Seed Oil (Emollient), Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis Oil (Skin-Conditioning Agent), Theobroma Cacao Seed Butter (Emollient), Glycerin (Humectant), Glyceryl Stearate (Emulsifier), PEG-100 Stearate (Surfactant), Cyclopentasiloxane (Skin-Conditioning Agent/Emollient), Cetearyl Alcohol (Emulsifier), Lanolin Alcohol (Stabiliser/Emollient), Cyclohexasiloxane (Conditioning Agent), Phenoxyethanol (Preservative), Parfum (Fragrance), Benzyl Alcohol (Preservative), Methylparaben (Preservative), Propylparaben (Preservative), Xanthan Gum (Viscosity Modifier), Disodium EDTA (Chelating Agent), Sodium Hydroxide (pH Adjuster), Potassium Hydroxide (pH Adjuster), Citric Acid (pH Adjuster), CI 75120 (Colour).

Sweet Lemon Body Butter

The ingredients are: Aqua (water), Butyrospermum Parkii (shea butter), Glycerin (glycerin), Cetearyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Stearate, Glycine Soja Oil (soja-oil), Theobroma Cacao Seed Butter (cacao butter), PEG-100 Stearate, Cyclopentasiloxane, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Vitis Vinifera S.

Side note: this scent is a bit too sweet for me, it's not the scent I would associate with lemons!

Moringa Body Butter

The ingredients are: Aqua (water), Butyrospermum parkii (sheaboter), Cyclopentasiloxane, Glycerin (glycerin), Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Vitis vinifera (druivenpitolie), Lanolin Alcohol (lanolin-alcohol), Moringa pterygosperma (moringa-oil), Sesamum indicum (sesame oil), Mel (honey), Bertholletia excelsa (Brazil nut oil), Theobroma cacao (cacao butter), Parfum, Myristamidopropyl PG-Dimonium Chloride Phosphate, Xanthan Gum, Phenethyl Alcohol, Linalool, Caprylyl Glycol, Hexyl Cinnamal, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Tocopherol (vitamin E), Disodium EDTA, Benzyl Salicylate, Geraniol, Hydroxycitronellal, Sodium Hydroxide, Isoeugenol, Colour: Caramel, CI 19140.

Side note: the moringa body butter has the least nice fragrance of the four body buttetrs

The first picture is with the Strawberry Body Butter on my hand and the second picture is after I fully lubricated my hand. I hope this picture makes clear how buttery the moisturizer is and how great your skin feels and smells afterwards!

Pros
  • Pretty and clear packaging
  • A lovely scent
  • Rich moisturizing cream
  • Not sticky, so wearable on hot and cold days.
Cons
  • The price (I use quite a bit so I go through the body butter quite quickly)
  • Ingredients include paraben and alcohol

You can buy the Body Butters at the Body Shop for (ranging between) €16 to €18 for 200 ml in the Netherlands and Belgium! In the States they're $20 for 6.7 oz! If you're from another country, click here for more information! What about you? Who has used the Body Shop's Body Butter? What did you think & which is your favorite? Do you have any pros & cons to add to mine?

  1. Oh die Mango is heerlijk! Zelf heb ik Blueberry en die gebruik ik dagelijks. Erg fijne producten, niet zo 'waterig' maar juist wat dikker, je krijgt wel waar voor je geld.

  11. I love the body butters, but you really have to choose your fragrance wisely. I've been trying to finish satsuma (mandarin smell) body butter for about two years. They can be overwhelming. My favorite smell are almond and coconut.
